Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers firmly believes that his tactical approach to big European away games is the best way of going about things.
The Hoops fell flat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain last night in what ended up being a 7-1 mauling of Rodgers’ men.
PSG’s front three tore the Hoops defence apart once again as both Neymar and Edinson Cavani bagged a brace, with teenager Kylian Mbappe also getting on the scoresheet for the French giants.
Despite the hefty loss, the Irishman is confident that their set-up and tactical approach to the game was the best it could’ve been on the night.
When asked by a journalist if it was time for a fresh approach, the Hoops boss replied:
We played five at the back, you want us to play seven along the back and one in goal, one in midfield and a striker Sometimes you just have to take your hat off against top quality. Our players gave absolutely everything and ran themselves into the ground. We made mistakes and got punished.

We tried to limit the damage in the second half, keep the lines tighter and you can see that from the goals – one has dipped in from 25 yards, one has deflected out to Verratti and another good finish from Cavani. What more defensively can we do other than not make mistakes? We will learn from it and go on.
With just one final game remaining in the Champions League group stages, the Scottish champions are in pole position to qualify for the Europa League last-32.
A home game against Anderlecht awaits them and all they need to do in order to progress is avoid a four goal defeat.
Celtic’s attention will now turn to the first domestic silverware up for grabs this season, as they begin their preparations for Sunday’s League Cup final against Motherwell at Hampden Park
