Ahead of Celtic’s Champions League tie at home to Anderlecht, we at Read Celtic will role-play and predict the starting XI.
We will be playing the role of Brendan Rodgers and will be choosing the starting XI, as well as predicting how the team will line-up on the pitch.
It also includes a bit of insight into what we expect from each player, and what they can do to make the difference.
It’s the last round of group stage games in Europe’s elite competition, and Celtic will look to secure a place in the Europe League last-32 on Tuesday night.
The previous meeting between the sides back in September ended in a triumphant 3-0 victory for Brendan Rodgers’ men, with goals from Griffiths, Roberts and Sinclair.
Has been in decent form recently. Wouldn’t be dropped, especially given how important this game is for the club’s European status.
Mikael Lustig
The Swede has been defensively sound this season and can offer help going forward when required.
Jozo Simunovic
Was rested at the weekend but will come back into the team fresh and ready to put in a shift at the back.
Dedryck Boyata
Will hopefully be at his usual calm and composed self for this one. A good performance alongside Jozo at the back is needed to stay on top of any potential threats that directly attack them during the game.
Kieran Tierney
Has barely put a foot wrong this season. Has shown his talent on the European front this campaign and will look to do the same on Tuesday night.
Scott Brown
Is the one constant factor in the team that never changes and is always in the starting XI when fit. Can dictate play in the middle of the park and keep the game ticking when required.
Olivier Ntcham
Impressed on Saturday against Motherwell. Always looks for space and is moving around scanning for the next pass. A player such as him could be what is needed in midfield to give us that extra edge needed to get a winning goal.
James Forrest
Came on at the weekend with 22 minutes left to play and bagged a brace. Can hopefully show more of that against Anderlecht as his pace and ability to create chances will be a useful asset to have.
Callum McGregor
The last time the midfielder started in a European game at Celtic Park he put in a superb performance and even got on the scoresheet against Bayern Munich. Should start in the crunch tie given his enthusiasm and technique.
Scott Sinclair
Will more than likely start out on the left like always. Hasn’t had a standout moment in some time but he always gets involved and is constantly looking to create chances.
Odsonne Edouard
Bagged a hat-trick against Motherwell on Saturday in what was his first start for the club since joining on-loan. His physicality and technique could be better suited going up against the Belgian champions with Dembele just back from injury.
