Brighton to make bid for Moussa Dembele
Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly seen Celtic’s Moussa Dembele as their number one transfer target in January, as per the Daily Mail.
Brighton are in need of more goals, scoring just 14 so far this campaign, with no side above the Seagulls scoring fewer than that.
Chris Hughton was said to have been after Tottenham Hotspur’s Vincent Janssen in the summer to lead the front line. However, he has gone on loan from Spurs to Fenerbahce for the season.
Strikers for Brighton include Glenn Murray, who is Albion’s top scorer with five and Tomer Hemed, who is struggling for minutes under his belt in the English top flight.
Brighton broke their transfer record to capture Jose Izquierdo from Club Brugge in the summer for £13.5m, but the Dembele deal would see them break that record again.
Hughton is reportedly going to offer Brendan Rodgers £20m for the young Frenchman, but Celtic value him at £30m, so the fee is yet to be agreed.
Dembele this season, although hit by injury, has still been providing the Hoops with goals, netting two braces in four days at Pittodrie and Easter Road.
He also scored in the recent League Cup Final win over Motherwell and the early opener in Paris, so Brighton would certainly be getting a goalscorer.
However, whether Dembele goes in January or not is another matter. The 21-year-old has his whole career ahead of him, but it is to be seen if the wanted man will remain in Glasgow.
