Rodgers: It’s morally difficult to stop players from making big money moves away from Celtic

Brendan Rodgers has been talking to the media about Moussa Dembele and how he is a transfer target to many clubs south of the border.

Dembele has been a transfer target, most recently for Premier League new boys Brighton & Hove Albion, whose manager, Chris Hughton, has said that he would love to sign the French striker.

He has also been linked to giants, Manchester United and Merseysiders Everton, but both deals have not been successful.

Rodgers has said that it would be wrong to stand in a player’s way from a big money move, with the Bhoys in recent years letting go of Victor Wanyama and Virgil van Dijk, both to Premier League outfit Southampton.

Dembele’s teammate, Kieran Tierney, has also been linked with moves down south, but he has recently signed a six year contract at Celtic Park, which has been one of the best bits of news for Celtic fans this season.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Brendan Rodgers said (via Daily Record):

Players will develop here and improve and they  are playing for a huge club, so you know that if a player leaves Celtic, they can go and cope because of the pressures here to win and the sheer size of the club. We give players the chance to come here and develop and improve and I think there’s a natural side to this where, morally, its difficult to keep the player and if the club get the money, then it is good business.
