Celtic make £500,000 bid for Jack Hendry
Celtic have lodged a £500,000 bid for Dundee defender Jack Hendry, amid interest from Premier League sides Newcastle and Southampton.
The Daily Mail say Celtic looking to step up their pursuit in order to win the race to sign the promising defender.
Crystal Palace and Rangers have also been credited with an interest in the player in the past.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to be a huge admirer of the player and he was full of praise for the Dundee defender when the two sides met earlier in the campaign.
Hendry only has 18 months remaining on his current deal with Dundee, so his current club will be looking to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.
The 22-year-old could become the second defender to join Celtic in January after the Scottish champions signed RB Leipzig’s Marvin Compper.
Rodgers is set to have money to spend after Liverpool agreed a £75 million deal to sign Virgil van Dijk, which will see the Hoops collect a hefty windfall from the transfer.
