Celtic defeated Partick Thistle 2-1 at Firhill Stadium, to extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 11 points.
The Bhoys did not get off to a good start in the Glasgow derby, conceding a penalty thanks to Mikael Lustig’s foul in the area after 34 minutes. The on-loan Conor Sammon stepped up and sent Craig Gordon the wrong way to give Partick Thistle the lead.
After the interval, The Hoops looked like a different side with the introduction of Leigh Griffiths, and were awarded a penalty of their own after 54 minutes. Scott Sinclair’s tricky feet attracted a foul in the box, and he slotted home from the spot to equalise.
After 70 minutes, a scintillating run and lay off from James Forrest allowed Scott Brown to play a through-ball for Griffiths, and he made no mistake in giving Celtic the lead, one which they held onto.
