Griffiths speaks out on his Celtic future amid transfer speculation

Leigh Griffiths has said that he wishes to remain at Celtic as he has his eyes set on that 100 goals mark, according to The Daily Record.

There have been transfer rumours linking Griffiths to English Premier League sides West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City, as well as Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City.

Griffiths currently sits on 96 goals for the Bhoys and will not leave Celtic Park until he has joined the same club as Kenny Dalglish, Henrik Larsson an Jimmy Johnstone.

He made it 96 Hoops goals in Tuesday’s 2-1 win at Partick Thistle and has just four to go to reach that illustrious landmark.

Griffiths currently lies on seven Premiership goals for the campaign, making him the league’s joint fifth highest goalscorer along with teammate James Forrest.

He sits four behind the league’s top goalscorer, Rangers “El Bufalo” Alfredo Morelos, and four goals behind his personal target as a Celtic player.

Griffiths said to the media (via Daily Record):

I don’t want to leave here. It’s a massive club and I love playing for this club. I am focusing on trying to hit that 100-goal mark and won’t be going anywhere.

It would mean a lot to me. I’ve never scored more than 50 goals for a club so to get 100 at a club like this would be massive.

So Griffiths, although linked away from the East End of Glasgow, is not going anywhere by the look of it, and Celtic fans should prepare themselves to see the Scotland man get his 100th Hoops goal soon.
