Scott Sinclair has hit back at recent criticism that he is not the same great player of last season, after grabbing his 17th goal already this campaign.

The winger has continued to be a huge part of Brendan Rodgers’ success as manager despite many feeling his performances have not been up to scratch.
As reported on the Celtic’s official club website, the 28-year-old hopes to continue scoring goals and also assisting his teammates. He has a further 14 assists this season and says his aim is always to help the team win.

I want to keep scoring goals, creating and helping the team win games. If I can keep doing that and keep performing then that’s all I can do.
All the criticism doesn’t really bother me, and my stats are higher this year than last year. You’re always going to get criticised after winning all the awards last year but, for me, it’s just to stay focused and keep doing what I’m doing.
For me, it’s trying to beat everything – the assists, goals and trophies. You always want to improve and do better every single day.

After a disappointing display against Rangers at the end of December, Sinclair has come back firing from the winter break with a goal against Brechin at the weekend. This was before winning and then converting a penalty in the 2-1 victory at Patrick in midweek.
With the two Edinburgh teams coming up for Celtic, last season’s Player of the Year will be looking to push even closer to his previous season’s goal tally of 26.
