Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has said that his former boss Brendan Rodgers is currently the best British manager, according to a report in the Daily Record.
Carragher, who is now retired, played under Rodgers for two years on Merseyside before the Northern Irishman came north of the border to Celtic.
Rodgers guided Liverpool bitterly close to the league title in 2014 with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez in his side.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 40-year-old hailed Rodgers as the best in Britain and claimed he would be a perfect fit for a top Premier League club.
It’s always seen as a dig at Brendan Rodgers, I actually think Brendan is the best British manager.
He at times is ridiculed, even sometimes by Liverpool fans on social media, ‘oh Brendan Rodgers has only done this’, ‘Klopp’s only done that’ as if Brendan Rodgers is the worst manager they’ve ever seen at Liverpool.
Rodgers came closer than anyone to winning a league title.
Celtic will be hoping their manager can guide them to glory this week as they prepare to face a dangerous Zenit outfit as the Russians come to Parkhead on Thursday night for the first leg of the Europa League Last 32 tie.
