Celtic’s recent cycle of European exploits has been underwhelming to say the least.
The Hoops either don’t get through the qualification period or they exit competitions with a bit of a whimper.
After qualifying for the Champions League this year, Celtic won just two of their eight matches in Europe (six in the Champions League, two in the Europa League).
Whilst domestic success is fantastic for Celtic, their next step has to be to make a serious mark in Europe as, at the moment, the Hoops are seen by many as a bit an afterthought on the continent.
A club the size of Celtic should be competing in Europe, but something, or some things, are holding them back.
