Brown retired from international football back in August 2016 in an attempt to focus on his club career with Celtic, however, the midfielder would come back out of retirement just months later.
The Celtic captain has decided to hang up his boots on the international front after talks with new manager Alex McLeish, who recently replaced Gordon Strachan.
The midfielder was unable to help the Scottish national team qualify for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
As per the Independent, Brown has admitted that he needs to take care of his body in the final stages of his playing career.
The football calendar is more and more demanding now, and in terms of looking after my own body and in interests of my family, I felt now is the right time to take this decision.
