Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to nine points with a 3-2 win over rivals Rangers on Sunday afternoon.
The meeting at Ibrox, as ever, was a dramatic one with a red card, injuries and plenty of goals.
Celtic went behind in the opening two minutes after Dedryck Boyata gifted Josh Windass the chance to give the hosts the lead.
Tom Rogic drew Celtic back on level terms with a brilliantly-taken goal. Daniel Candeias went on to put Rangers back in front before Moussa Dembele equalised on the stroke of the half-time whistle.
Celtic’s afternoon was made tougher by the referee’s decision to send off Jozo Simunovic for an elbow on Alfredo Morales.
On-loan striker Odsonne Edouard came off the bench in the second half to score Celtic’s third with a brilliant curling effort.
Here is how we rated the players after the game.
Scott Bain - 6
Unfortunate to concede so early on his debut but not much he could have done to stop the first goal.
He did brilliantly to keep the ball out of the back of the net late on from Morales from just yards out.
Kristoffer Ajer - 5
Looked unnatural playing on a right of a back four, performed much better when Celtic switched to a back three following the red card.
Jozo Simunovic - 4
Made a last-ditch tackle to try and stop Josh Windass, but not much he could have done. Sent off in the second half for an elbow on Alfredo Morelos.
Dedryck Boyata - 3
Very poor on the ball to give the ball away to Windass. His afternoon was made worse as he was held off the ball all too easy for Rangers’ second of the game.
A game Boyata will want to forget quickly, not his best afternoon for Celtic.
Kieran Tierney - 6
Got forward well and was always an attacking threat but turned his back all too quickly for Candeias’ goal.
Olivier Ntcham - 6
Tried to make things happen in the middle of the park with his impressive passing range.
Scott Brown - 5
The midfielder got involved in too many personal battles and his impact on the game was very limited.
James Forrest - 6
Showed flashes of brilliance but the Rangers back line got the better of him for the most part.
Tom Rogic - 8
Rangers allowed him all too much room and he found the back of the net brilliantly to draw level. He would have been disappointed to be brought off but was sacrificed following the red card.
Callum McGregor - 6
Got in behind and found space on several occasions but his final ball was lacking.
Moussa Dembele - 6.5
The Frenchman failed to make any meaningful impact during the first half but come up with the goods when it mattered to score Celtic’s second of the game.
Subs:
Jack Hendry – 6, came off the bench following the red card helped Celtic see the game out.
Odsonne Edouard – 7, came off the bench to score the winning goal with a brilliantly-taken goal. Moments like that will only further fans’ arguments to sign the player permanently.
Stuart Armstrong – N/A, came on in the final few minutes to replace Dembele.
