Celtic hoping to play Liverpool in Scott Brown’s testimonial

Celtic are in talks with Liverpool Football Club as they look to arrange a testimonial for captain Scott Brown, according to The Daily Record.

Brown is in his tenth season at the Hoops after signing from Hibernian back in 2007. It is believed that a date is being arranged between the two clubs, with the game set to take place either in late July or early August.

Brown has already enjoyed a testimonial dinner in his honour earlier this month, but the match will likely take place this summer.

The 32-year-old has made 463 appearances for the Hoops, netting 37 times and winning 14 of his 15 major honours at Celtic Park.

In his tenth season playing in the famous Green and White, he is likely to secure his eighth league title.

Brown also has the proud personal honours of holding Celtic’s record of most European appearances as well as the club’s most decorated captain.

The game, if it goes ahead, will also give Brendan Rodgers a chance to face his former empolyers for the first time since he was sacked in October 2015.
