Celtic failed to secure their seventh consecutive league title today as they were completely outfought by an excellent Hibernian side who ran out 2-1 winners.
The visitors were second best in every department and seemed less hungry for the win despite the chance of wrapping up the league.
Jamie Maclaren opened the scoring after a hectic start at Easter Road, tapping in from a great ball across.
Celtic were sloppy in possession throughout and didn’t quite have the final ball in attack. Tom Rogic was denied by Marciano and Leigh Griffiths had a shot well blocked.
Paul Hanlon nearly headed the host two up but his effort dropped just wide.
Scott Sinclair was introduced at half time to give Brendan Rodgers side some much-needed width but it was Hibernian who continue their fine display.
Vykintas Slivka finished off a great Hibs move as he headed in for 2-0.
Odsonne Edouard gave Celtic late hope with a goal but it wasn’t enough for the Bhoys today.
Here’s how we rated the players after today’s game.
Craig Gordon 6/10
Made a great close range stop from Kamberi in the opening moments and also got down well to save from a corner.
However, poor distribution teamed with Hibs’ high press lead to their first goal.
Had no chance for the second.
Jack Hendry 6/10
Pushed forward well to join the attack well when needed.
Defended fairly well but was beaten to the header for Hibs’ second.
Kristoffer Ajer 5.5/10
Produced some great bursting runs to exploit space further forward in the first half.
Made a great goalie clearance to prevent Hibs going 3-0 up.
Dedryck Boyata 5.5/10
Had a real battle up against Kamberi and Maclaren and couldn’t stop the pair who were a constant threat.
Kieran Tierney 6/10
Pushed forward well and had a bright first half.
Like his teammates, he struggled with the relentless Hibs attack.
Scott Brown 5/10
It was an unusually slack performance from the captain.
Was caught on the ball numerous times and didn’t move the ball quick enough across the midfield to move the opposition around.
Oliver Ntcham 4/10
Hooked at half time after looking off the pace in the first period.
Lost out to McGeough and McGinn on a number of occasions and blazed the ball over the bar from a decent chance in the box.
James Forrest 5/10
Struggling to beat his opponent in Stevenson on the wing and failed to emulate his excellent form so far this season.
Was replaced by Patrick Roberts with 20 minutes remaining.
Tom Rogic 7/10
Was probably Celtic’s best player in a poor performance.
Glided past defenders and added a real attacking threat in behind the midfield.
Should have got on the scoresheet but was denied by the goalkeeper with two saves.
Callum McGregor 6/10
Had quite game compared to last week and couldn’t add the same attacking quality to the game.
Dropped back into midfield when Sinclair came on.
Leigh Griffiths 6/10
Linked up well with the midfield and showed some good movement up top.
Nearly grabbed an equaliser before half time but saw his shot blocked.
Came off for Edouard on 65 minutes.
Scott Sinclair 5/10
Replaced Ntcham at half time to add some pace and penetration out wide.
Despite this, the winger failed to make much of an impression once again.
Odsonne Edouard 6/10
Came on for Griffiths with 25 minutes left and grabbed a consolation with a neat finish.
Patrick Roberts 6/10
Looked lively when he replaced Forrest with 20 minutes left.
