Tom Rogic offers hope over new contract
Celtic’s Tom Rogic has hailed his time at Parkhead so far amidst stalled negotiations over a new contract with the club.
The Aussie’s current deal is set to expire next season and it remains to be seen whether Celtic can tie him down for the long-term after himself and his representatives turned down a deal earlier in the year.
On the plus side for the fans, the midfielder has spoken very highly of his experiences so far in Glasgow since joining in 2013, as quoted by The Daily Record.
Celtic the club is enormous. There is obviously a large history and anytime there is a match or anytime you pull on that jersey, you have a responsibility.
There is a certain amount of pressure that comes with representing the club, but all players want to play at the highest level and for the biggest clubs.
That’s what comes with it, so it’s pretty cool to represent the club. It’s an amazing place to play and you certainly feel the support when you are out there. It seems like a long time ago since I signed and it seems like I’ve been here forever, but I wouldn’t change anything.
The 25-year-old netted the famous winner against Aberdeen last season to secure the treble for Celtic and highlighted this as one of his best moments in the Hoops.
In recent times, last season was pretty special on the whole.
Going unbeaten and winning the Treble and, for me, the last moment in the Scottish Cup Final was something I will never forget.
But I don’t like to talk about it too much or focus on it because it only was one moment. We had a big squad and everyone contributed.
For me at the moment, it’s just about improving and working hard every day.
Talks between the two parties over a new deal could be on hold as Rogic will be heading off to the World Cup with Australia this summer.
His creativity and quality on the ball has made him a real asset for Celtic and a player that Brendan Rodgers should definitely be keen on holding on to.
