The 20-year-old has been a formidable force in the Hoops’ backline this season, showing a respectable level of maturity and composure for someone his age.
His performances so far during this campaign have even caught the attention of Norway manager Lars Lagerbäck, who handed Ajer his first ever senior call-up to his national side for the last set of international fixtures that were played.
After making his Celtic debut in a 3-0 win over Lincoln Red Imps in the summer of 2016, he made appearances for the U20 team before joining fellow Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock on a six-month loan deal in January 2017 where he impressed, making thirteen appearances for them.
Ajer forced his way into Celtic’s team early this season and has kept his place throughout the campiagn and he’ll have the chance to make the centre-back position his own for the next for years after putting pen to paper on a new deal.
