Celtic are interested in signing Swiss defender Fabian Schar as they look to strengthen their defence for next season, according to El Desmarque.
Schar has attracted the interest of several mid-table Bundesliga sides, however, the lure of Champions League football could see the 26-year-old be swayed into making the move to Glasgow.
The centre-back currently plays for Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga and is under contract there until 2021, after signing a four-year deal back in 2017.
As the Spanish side have the Swiss defender tied down to a long contract, it will take a fee in the region of €4 million to bring him to Parkhead.
After making his name at FC Basel, Schar has struggled to establish himself in both the Bundesliga and La Liga, so may see Scotland as the perfect opportunity for a fresh start.
He is believed to suit Brendan Rodgers’ combative style, fitting nicely into the Green and White back four.
