Celtic step up pursuit of Tom James
As reported by STV Sport, Celtic are looking to battle Hull City and Swansea City for the signature of Yeovil Town defender Tom James.
James has been earmarked by the club to provide defensive cover on the right side with Mikael Lustig currently competing with Sweden at the World Cup in Russia.
With Celtic’s opening European Qualifier against Alashkert kicking off on Tuesday a quick deal could be done between the two clubs with the 21-year-old having just one year left on his current contract at the League 2 side.
With 50 senior caps already, James could certainly poise a qualify outfit for Brendan Rodgers after impressing against Manchester United in the FA Cup last season.
As the transfer window rolls on, the Scottish Champions have also been linked with Wigan defender Nathan Byre as they aim to strengthen and add to their backline after deciding not to offer former Hull right-back Moses Odubajo a contract despite a trial this summer.
