Transfer speculation surrounding Celtic’s Kieran Tierney has been a big talking point so far this summer with a host of teams keen on the young full-back.
Down south, Premier League teams such as Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth have been linked with the 21-year-old and most recently and most heavily, Everton.
The Merseyside club have emerged as one of the top admires of Tierney and according to reports, the figures behind a possible future move may have been agreed in principle for the Scotland international and double treble winner.
Whilst a deal is far from completed, it’s certainly the last thing Celtic fans want to hear about their beloved young sensation.
Despite only just signing a huge six year deal last year, rumours are gathering pace as the Parkhead faithful become more and more hopeful that no deal will be done.
So we have looked at five reasons why Tierney should remain in Glasgow and why the club must not let him go just yet.
Brendan Rodgers
One of the biggest factors that might keep him at the Club is the manager.
Since Rodgers’ arrival in 2016, the pair have grown to have a fantastic relationship between player and coach with the boss even handing his left-back the captain’s armband on some occasions last season.
The development under Rodgers is clear for all to see and Tierney will only get better under his guidance.
With a Premier League move on the cards, a manager that came so close to winning it, may keep the youngster at Celtic.
The Celtic fans
As a fan himself, it will be hardest thing to leave behind for Tierney if he does make a move away.
Being a clear favourite of the supporters will always give him the motivation to give his best in the green and white.
Also, you would doubt every much that the Scot would receive the same fanatical support from the Goodison faithful.
Fellow teammates staying
Celtic made a big statement earlier in the summer by breaking their transfer record to secure Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal.
This already shows the ambition of the club to get stronger and letting Tierney go would be a clear step back.
Others like Kristoffer Ajer and Tom Rogic have signed long term deals as Moussa Dembele looks set to stay, so he would not be alone if he chose to remain at Parkhead.
Champions League Football
A huge prospect that would be a pull factor for any footballer is the chance to test yourself amongst Europe’s elite.
European nights at Celtic Park is something special and something he is unlikely to experience at Everton.
Despite the 5-0 drubbing from PSG, it is an occasion you couldn’t live without and results can only get better for Celtic, surely?
Possibility of Ten in a Row
With Celtic comfortably securing their seventh consecutive title last season, a record breaking ten draws slightly closer.
Whilst it is by no means plain sailing from here, it is surely a huge ambition of the Celtic squad to get there especially someone as passionate as Keiran Tierney.
A new challenge will come from Rangers with Steven Gerrard at the helm while Aberdeen and Hibernian will look to strengthen so in terms of competition, theres no better place to be.
