Brendan Rodgers has been keen for Celtic to sign the Scottish international all summer but the Hoops have seen every bid they’ve made rejected by Hibernian as they’ve not met their valuation.
Whilst Villa are yet to agree a fee for the 23-year-old either, they have been given permission to talk to McGinn whilst they and Hibs look to come to an agreement on a transfer fee.
The news will come as a big blow to Celtic, who had been hoping to have signed the midfielder already. However, with no fee yet agreed with the Championship club, Celtic could still look to get a deal done, but they’ll likely have to meet Hibs’s £4m asking price.
