Brendan Rodgers has bemoaned Celtic’s ability to complete a deal to sign John McGinn this summer.
The Scottish midfielder has been a long-term target for the Hoops are he impressed last season.
Speaking to STV, as reported by Inside Futbol, Rodgers weighed on McGinn’s potential move to England.
He’s a player we clearly wanted to sign. We haven’t been able to complete a deal and when you don’t do that it always opens the door for other teams.
Celtic had been expected to complete a deal to sign McGinn, but Premier League interest began to mount when Hibernian dug their heels in over the asking price.
Championship side Aston Villa have now entered the race and are due to hold talks with the player over a potential move.
The player has been given permission to discuss a move to Villa Park with Steve Bruce, with Celtic looking set to miss out.
