Celtic know that they must score a goal in Greece next week or they’ll be knocked out of the Champions League after a 1-1 draw with AEK Athens at Celtic Park.
Viktor Klonaridis’ equaliser on the stroke of half-time cancelled out Callum McGregor’s opening goal and despite the visitors playing the last half hour with ten men after Konstantinos Galanopoulos picked up a second yellow card, Celtic couldn’t find the beck of the net again.
Here’s how we rated the Celtic players in the game:
Craig Gordon - 6
Couldn’t do much about the goal. Made a few routine saves but didn’t have a lot to do.
Mikael Lustig - 5
Looked pretty good but his failure to do stop a cross led to an Athens goal.
Jack Hendry - 6
Looked in good touch but he was MIA when the goal went in, which did take away from his performance.
Kristoffer Ajmer - 6
Didn’t cover himself in glory for the goal. Took a booking for a tackle from behind and as such, he’ll miss the second leg.
Kieran Tierney- 8
Looked as sharp as ever and was directly involved in the goal. A very good performance.
Scott Brown - 6
Your typical no flairs Scott Brown performance from midfield.
Olivier Ntcham - 7
Another strong showing from the Frenchman, who has started the season in fantastic form.
James Forrest - 6
Showed lots of pace and energy getting forward, but was unable to make a mark on the game.
Callum McGregor - 7.5
One of Celtic’s best performers on the night, with a brilliantly-taken goal to give the Hoops the lead.
Tom Rogic - 6
Not quite at the same impressive level that he was at against Livingston, struggled to create and find the necessary space.
Odsonne Edouard - 6
The quality in his service was low and even then he squandered the chances he did get.
Leigh Griffiths – 5, added some much-needed pace after replacing Rogic.
Scott Sinclair – 4, did not make much of an impact in the final 10 minutes.
