Ahead of Celtic’s domestic home game against Hamilton this Sunday, we at Read Celtic will role-play and predict the starting XI.
We will be playing the role of Brendan Rodgers and will be choosing the starting XI, as well as predicting how the team will line-up on the pitch.
It also includes a bit of insight into what we expect from each player, and what they can do to make the difference.
The Hoops are set to return to league duty for the first time since their 1-0 defeat away to Hearts fifteen days ago.
Since then, Rodgers’ side has progressed to the next round of the League Cup and played the first-leg of their Europa League play-off tie, where they drew 1-1 with FK Sūduva in Lithuania.
Injuries have plagued the squad, particularly the defence, leaving the boss in a tricky situation in terms of team selection.
Here is our predicted eleven in a 4-2-3-1 formation for Sunday’s 15:00 kick-off.
Conceded a disappointing goal on Thursday and should look to perform better on Sunday.
Started on Thursday and could do so again versus Hamilton.
Recent defensive worries including Jozo Simunovic means the Swede could be required to slot into central defence.
The Norwegian defender has been a regular in the side so far this season and will likely be called upon to start on Sunday.
Put in a solid shift on Thursday so will likely be tired. However, he’s still available for selection and will look to perform well in front of a home crowd.
The captain hasn’t quite looked himself lately and could do with more support in the middle of the park. He’ll still be selected to do his job in midfield.
Likely that the Frenchman will start alongside Brown in the centre of the park.
Is more than capable of doing a job domestically. Will start out on the right and hope to make an impact.
Didn’t feature at all on Thursday, despite the team lacking a creative spark. Will return fresh and ready to perform on Sunday however.
Another name who didn’t feature against Sūduva. Could return to the starting lineup against Hamilton though, and hopefully he can make an influence.
A tough call given the Frenchman started on Thursday night. Rodgers could decide to change things up and opt for Griffiths, but Dembele is still in contention.
