Ex-Australian internationalĀ Brett Emerton believes Daniel Arzani made the wrong decision in joining Celtic this summer.
The former Blackburn and Feyenoord man believes that the winger should have taken his career to the Eredivisie for the sake of his own development.
Speaking to Goal, Emerton explains that the Dutch league could have catapulted his career in a way that playing in Scotland may not.
I think for his development it wouldāve been a better move if Iām honest. But thatās not to say he canāt go to Celtic, spend one or two seasons performing well and get a big move from there.
Iām hopeful heāll do well. I want our national team to do well and forthat we need our players in the biggest leagues week in, week out. That should be his ambition.

Arzani joined Celtic on a two-year loan deal during the summer after sealing a move to Manchester City from Melbourne City.
However, it has not been all plain sailing for Arzani since joining the club.
He was left out of the club’s Europa League squad and has failed to break into BrendanĀ Rodgers’ team, with club officials stating he needs more time to develop and adjust to life in Scotland.
Manchester City do have links in the Eredivisie with NAC Breda, but Arzani opted to join the Hoops.
