Rodgers pleads with Celtic fans to back the team

Brendan Rodgers has pleaded with Celtic fans to back the team in tomorrow night’s Europa League fixture with Rosenborg, Here In The City reports.

Rodgers’ side have taken just 10 points from their opening five league fixtures in what has been a relatively poor start to the season for the Hoops, sitting five points behind current Scottish Premier League leaders Hearts.

However, tomorrow Rodgers’ side will turn their attention to the Europa League as they face Norwegian side Rosenborg, with Rodgers hoping that the Celtic faithful will back his side from the first moment the whistle blows.

Rodgers said:

We would like to start with a great crowd, we want the stands to be full – everyone of course wants the Champions League – but this is still a very important competition for us. I would say to the Celtic supporters to come out, give us your great support because that it is vital for us to do well.

Celtic have struggled in European competitions in recent seasons but are hopeful that they can put an end to their European woes this season with success in the Europa League.
