It’s back to league action for Celtic following their 3-1 loss away to Red Bull Salzburg on Thursday night.
The champions ang St. Johnstone met just over a week ago at McDiarmid Park as Brendan Rodgers’ side clinched the win thanks to Leigh Griffiths as they progressed to the semi-final of the Betfred League Cup, and it’s back to Perth this weekend in a re-match.
Matchday eight will see Tommy Wright’s men look to reach double figures in terms of points, while the visitors aim to get back on track following a shaky start to their league campaign. They currently sit fifth in the Premiership table, six points behind Hearts.
Here is our Celtic predicted XI for this weekend’s league game versus St. Johnstone:
Will retain his place as usual.
Was poor yet again on Thursday but remains Rodgers’ number one choice for this position, for now.
Since returning to the side, the Belgian has barely put a foot wrong and has really stepped up his game.
Has rarely featured given the other choices available but could get the opportunity to show his worth on Sunday.
Captained the side in Austria on Thursday. Will look to bounce back following the loss.
Made his European debut for the Hoops on Thursday. Looks set to make his third appearance following Scott Brown’s injury.
The French midfielder hasn’t been at his best lately but can still make an impact given his dribbling ability.
Was sent off against Salzburg. Will look to return to domestic duty with a good performance.
Is always capable of impacting a game. His range of passing and eye for goal make him a threat to the opposition.
His goal against Aberdeen last weekend can hopefully inspire him to turn-up and help Celtic grab three much-needed points.
A poor showing on Thursday doesn’t hinder the fact he can do a job domestically. Bagged the only goal of the game the last time the two sides met.
