Celtic are set to miss out on the signing of Sean Longstaff, with the youngster poised to pen a new long-term contract at Newcastle United.
The midfielder, according to a report from Chronicle Live, is willing to commit his future to the cause at St James’ Park as he continues to be regarded as the club’s most promising young talent.
Longstaff, 20, has earned plenty of plaudits for his displays at youth level for Newcastle and interest from elsewhere has surfaced, including from Celtic.

The Hoops sent scouts to observe duo Longstaff and Freddie Woodman in a recent Under-23 fixture between Newcastle and Kilmarnock as they pondered future moves.
However, it seems Newcastle are on the verge of reaching a complete agreement with the midfielder over a long-term extension, with his current contract due to expire at the end of the ongoing season.
Longstaff spent the duration of last season on loan at Blackpool and stood out, as he gained valuable experience of first-team football.
