Brendan Rodgers named on Spartak Moscow shortlist

Brendan Rodgers is one of three managers under consideration for the Spartak Moscow job.

According to reports in Russia, as cited on the Scotsman, Spartak have set their sights on Rodgers, the recently-sacked Leonardo Jardim and Stanislav Cherchesov, the manager of the Russian national team.

Spartak, who are due to face Rangers in the Europa League later this week, sacked Massimo Carrera on Monday and are looking to make a swift appointment after putting one of the club’s coaches in charge for the time being.

The links to Russia follow yet more claims about Rodgers’ long-term future at the club, with Celtic seemingly planning for life after the Northern Irishman.

Recent reports have claimed that Neil Lennon is back on the club’s radar as a potential replacement.

The Celtic boss has attracted interested from Aston Villa, Premier League Leicester City and Newcastle as well as teams in the Chinese Super League in recent months.
