Celtic, already struggling with injury and suspension issues, are set to be without defenders Cristian Gamboa and Jozo Simunovic for this weekend’s League Cup semi-final clash with Hearts.
The pair were both injured during Celtic’s 2-0 loss away at RB Leipzig and Brendan Rodgers thinks both are unlikely to feature at Murrayfield on Sunday.
Gamboa came off with a hamstring issue at half-time, whilst Simunovic was carried off the pitch on a stretcher with an ankle issue, sustained when he landed awkwardly after competing for a high ball.

With Dedryck Boyata suspended for the Hearts game, it looks like Jack Hendry will play at centre-back, hopefully alongside Filip Benkovic, who Celtic are hoping will be fit. Mikael Lustig replaced Gamboa at half-time in Germany and he looks likely to start the semi-final at right-back.
As reported by the Scotsman, Rodgers admitted that he’s not expecting either of the injured duo to be ready to play on Sunday.
Jozo looks like he’ll be struggling. He took an awkward landing when he landed. He will be a question mark for the weekend. Unfortunately, Boyata, who I thought was outstanding tonight, won’t be available at the weekend. Jozo will struggle. (Gamboa) felt a tightness so we will just have to look at it and see tomorrow but again, when you come off with that type of injury, it can be a major doubt.
