Brendan Rodgers has given a fitness update on striker Leigh Griffiths and it is positive news for Celtic as the forward is close to making a return to first-team action.
Rodgers refused to put a definite timescale on Griffiths’ return but, as reported by the Daily Record, he did say that the Scotland striker is close to being able to train fully.

Leigh’s now back looking to get training. He’s nearly clear of his calf injury. So once he can get his work done and get up to speed in training, we’ll assess it from there.
Griffiths has a long history of calf issues and Celtic will be keen to get him fully fit before getting him back into action, but with some big games on the horizon, they’ll be keen to have him available as soon as possible.
Griffiths should return to training in the next week but he’s likely going to need some time to get himself match fit.
