The fitness saga involving Leigh Griffiths has taken another fresh twist, with Brendan Rodgers revealing he is unlikely to be involved in Scotland’s next double-header.
As reported by the Evening Times, the Celtic manager has cast further doubts about when the player could be back in action, despite recently admitting that he has returned to training.
Scotland face Albania and Israel towards the end of November in the UEFA Nations League and Griffiths is now being considered a doubt for those games, which could mean that he is not in action for the Hoops until near December.
Rodgers was coy when quizzed on the possibility of Griffiths being involved for the national team.
I’m not sure. That will depend on Leigh, how quickly he responds to treatment and how hard he works to get fit. He’s getting better and his calf injury is coming towards its end. He’s not on the playing field yet but he’s working with the medical team and the sports science team to get as it as he possibly can.

Concerns over Griffiths’ fitness have seen the Hoops rely heavily on Odsonne Edouard to provide the goals for Celtic.
Griffiths has not featured for the club since the start of October. Celtic play Hamilton and Rosenborg in the Europa League shortly after the international break.
