RB Leipzig defender Marcel Halstenberg has admitted that some of his teammates were intimidated by the Celtic Park atmosphere during their Europa League tie on Thursday evening.
Celtic got the better of the Bundesliga outfit on the day, coming out as 2-1 victors to reignite their chances of qualification to the next round of the competition.
The Hoops now sit level on points with Leipzig, and were deserving of all three points on the night.
Left-back Halstenberg, who came on in the 16th minute at Parkhead, claimed that the atmosphere got to one or two of his teammates. As quoted by RB Leipzig on Twitter, Halstenberg said:
We were a step behind too often today and made too many misplaced passes.
Perhaps the atmosphere got to one or two of us as well. Now we’ve got to move on.
