Celtic defender Mikael Lustig believes the club’s success has been inspired by their Scottish contingent.
Brendan Rodgers has built a squad with an effective blend of foreign and homegrown talent, as their dominance of the Scottish game shows little sign of slowing up.
Lustig has told the Daily Record that it is the local players who are most key, however, with their quality and knowledge of the club priceless:

It’s not just lately. For as long as they have been playing they have made a contribution.
Of course, as a fan you want to see people who have been raised at the club.
To have players such as KT, Cal and Jamesie brought up with the club at heart is massive.
They know everything about the club and can pass that on to others coming into the system from other teams or abroad.

There is a strong core of Scottish players at Parkhead these days, from experienced heads such as Scott Brown, Leigh Griffiths and James Forrest, to younger names including Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor.
Sunday’s 0-0 draw away to Livingston took Rodgers’ men back to the top of the Scottish Premiership.
They also have a chance of reaching the Europa League knockout stages, following last Thursday’s impressive 2-1 win at home to RP Leipzig.
