Forrest delighted with Scotland form after brilliant international break

James Forrest has expressed his delight at the recent run of form he has enjoyed for the Scottish national team.

The Celtic winger has been influential for Scotland, scoring five times across their last two games, which included a hat-trick in a 3-2 win over Israel on Tuesday night.

Speaking to BBC Sport Scotland after the game, Forrest could not hide his happiness.

I’m absolutely delighted. Obviously starting the last two games, scoring goals and getting the two wins and topping the group. I think it’s been a really good couple of days and we can look forward to the next games.

Forrest’s form helped his country finish top of their group in the UEFA Nations League.

The Scot has enjoyed a fine start to the season with Celtic and he has clearly taken that form to the international stage.

Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that the player can continue in a similar vein with his club ahead of the return of domestic football this weekend.

Celtic face Hamilton on Saturday before a couple of crunch games against Rosenborg in the Europa League and Aberdeen in the League Cup final.
