A professional performance from Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side saw them take all three points as they returned to domestic action against Hamilton.
Ryan Christie and the returning Leigh Griffiths got the goals for the Hoops, along with a Scott Martin own goal.
Celtic were denied a penalty very early on when Matt Kilgallon clearly threw out an arm to block the ball, however, it didn’t take them long to get over that injustice to break the deadlock.
Callum McGregor and Odsonne Edouard worked the short corner brilliantly and McGregor found Christie on the move at the front post, with the latter smashing the ball into the top corner.
Celtic dominated the ball in the first half with Olivier Ntcham in particular, heavily involved.
Scott Sinclair had a great chance to double the visitors’ lead after Ntcham found his diagonal run with a lovely lofted through ball but Sinclair could only find Gary Woods in the Accies goal.
Hamilton stood firm despite Celtic’s dominance into the second half with very few clear cut chances coming the way of the Hoops.
Just as the performance level started to drop, Celtic got their second goal to kill the game. Mikael Lustig’s cross found Sinclair who nodded down and a rather lucky deflection off Martin saw the ball bounce into the corner of the net.
In the late stages, substitute Leigh Griffiths was back amongst the goals as he expertly fired the ball past Woods into the far bottom corner from a free-kick. Christie was denied by the post in the final seconds as Celtic eased out the win.
Here’s how we rated the players after the 3-0 victory.
Craig Gordon: 6
Wasn’t really troubled in the game and dealt with the aerial threat well.
Mikael Lustig: 6
Supported the attack in the space left by James Forrest and continually put in decent crosses. Still saw too many passes going astray to the opposition which is letting him down at the moment.
Dedryck Boyata: 6
Was solid enough in defence throughout the game and kept the ball moving.
Filip Benkovic: 6
Barely troubled in another good performance.
Kieran Tierney: 6
Nothing special from Tierney after recovering from his hamstring problem. Saw out his defensive duties well but couldn’t quite find his final ball going forward and was replaced by Izaguirre for the last 10 minutes.
Callum McGregor: 6
Controlled proceedings once again in the deep-lying role with some quick passing.
Olivier Ntcham: 7
A strong performance from the Frenchman on his return to the side. A delightful scooped pass put Sinclair in on goal before nearly finding the net himself after a good break from Edouard.
Ryan Christie: 7
Opened the scoring after a well-worked corner with a brilliant side-foot effort into the top corner. Pressed high up the pitch and was as combative as he was creative in the middle of the pitch.
James Forrest: 6
Was well marshalled by the Hamilton defence after his international exploits in midweek and had a fairly quiet afternoon. Still showed his great confidence with some neat tricks and flicks in the second half.
Scott Sinclair: 6
Missed a great opportunity to make it 2-0 when he was one-on-one with Woods but couldn’t find a good enough finish. Was lucky to see his header flicked into the net by Martin.
Odsonne Edouard: 6
Led the line well and was also keen to drop back and take on defenders. Had a shot deflected just past the post before the break and was replaced by Griffiths after 75 minutes.
(SUB) Leigh Griffiths: 6
Good to see Griffiths back on the pitch as he got a 15 minute run out. Didn’t take him long to find his goal scoring once again as drove his free-kick low into the far corner.
(SUB) Emilio Izaguirre: 6
Replaced Tierney at left-back late on to make this fourth appearance of the season.
(SUB) Lewis Morgan : N/A
Came on to allow James Forrest a late rest.
