Leigh Griffiths vows to come back stronger

Leigh Griffiths has spoken for the first time since it was confirmed that the striker would be taking a break from the game.

Speaking in a statement, as reported by the Mirror, Griffiths vowed to make a speedy return and come back stronger.

Messages of support have been pouring in for the striker and it is clear to see that the player has been taken back by the public’s response.

I thank you all sincerely and want to let you know I’m doing all I can to come back as soon as possible, a better and stronger person.

I just wanted to thank everyone at the club and so many Celtic fans and other people who have sent me such kind and powerful messages of support.

Brendan Rodgers confirmed earlier this week that the striker would be out of the first-team picture for the immediate future as he looks to resolve personal issues off the pitch.

Rumours have been swirling around about the reasoning behind Griffiths’ absence, but the club have been keen to keep a tight lid on the matter with the striker’s privacy in mind.
