Western Melbourne have been given a major boost in their hopes of landing Scott Brown from Celtic.
The Daily Mail reports that the Australian club have been awarded a spot in the A-League, something that was believed to be a deciding factor in whether or not they would pursue a deal.
Melbourne have been linked with a move for Brown, with the club eager to make him their marquee signing ahead of the 2019-20 Australian season.
Brown is out of contract at Celtic next summer and it remains to be seen if he will put pen to paper on a new deal.
Talks over an extension at Parkhead are believed to be ongoing, but with a three-year contract on the table in Australia, Brown could look to finish his career down under.
Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the club will give the midfielder time to weigh up his options before making a decision.
Scott just deserves the time. He has a great relationship with the club and we want him to stay and at the minute he’s just concentrating on trying to get himself fit. Obviously if there’s a real big financial incentive (from elsewhere) then it’s very hard to deny players the opportunity to do that.
