Callum McGregor has revealed that he cannot envisage himself playing anywhere else after signing a new deal at the club.

The midfielder expressed his delight after his committing his long-term future to Celtic earlier this week.

It was confirmed on Thursday that McGregor had put pen to paper on a new contract that would run until 2023.

Premier League clubs had started to take note of McGregor’s impressive form this season.

Bournemouth were among those reportedly plotting January moves to sign the midfielder, meaning the Hoops were keen to tie him down as soon as possible.

Securing the midfielder’s long-term future will come as a huge boost to the club, with interest starting to rise.

Speaking about what the future holds for him, as reported by Herald Scotland, McGregor was aiming high as he bids to emulate club captain Scott Brown.

You see Broony getting to 500 games and you don’t do that for a club like this unless you have the right mentality, hunger and talent.

He has shown all of that and it’s something for me to aspire to. It’s certainly something I am looking at.
