Former Celtic striker John Hartson has suggested a move for former Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony could solve the club’s problems in the final third.
Speaking on BT Sport, Hartson put Bony’s name forward as a potential target for the club, with the Hoops looking to bring in another striker during the January period.
Bony is earning £80,000-a-week on a two-year contract, Celtic can’t stump up £3million to sign John McGinn. Swansea want him off the books. He would be a good signing, but there would be issues with his wages.
A host of names have already been linked with moves to Celtic, with Paris Saint-Germain youngster Timothy Weah believed to be closing in on a loan move to the club.
Bony has fallen out of favour at Swansea following a string of injuries, but the Ivorian remains a highly regarded finisher.
The striker has made just a handful of appearances for Swansea this season after recently making his way back to full fitness.
As Hartson stated, a move for Bony looks like a viable option on face value, however, his huge wages would be a stumbling block for Celtic, who would be unable to pay that in full.
