Celtic have made an offer to sign highly-rated American left-back Andrew Gutman, according to The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio.
Gutman had previously attracted interest from Rangers, but could now turn down a move to Steven Gerrard’s side to join Celtic.
The left-back has previously spent time on trial at Rangers, but Celtic are now being tipped to hijack the deal from under their noses.
Several other American sides are also believed to be keen to sign Gutman and are expected to rival the Hoops in any potential move.
Celtic have been keen to look into the American market for potential bargains recently, with fellow defender Manny Perez joining the club after a successful trial period.
Gutman was recently named as the winner of the MAC Hermann Trophy, an award which is presented to the best player in college soccer.
The 22-year-old is highly regarded in America and could provide back-up to Kieran Tierney, with Emilio Izaguirre likely to leave the club in the near future.
