Brendan Rodgers has dropped a hint that Celtic are interested in American defender Andrew Gutman, as per the Daily Record.
The American left-back recently spent time on trial with Rangers and was looking like he could be on the way to Ibrox but Celtic are seemingly interested in hijacking that deal.
The 22-year-old has come through the American collegiate system and was named as the best player in college football at an awards ceremony last weekend.
He’s already begun to follow Celtic on social media and when asked about signings, Rodgers hinted that his next signing will be a player who’ll need time to adjust and adapt, which points at Gutman.
Some of the boys are young guys or project signings for the club that can’t come in straight away but there’s nothing really to add on that.
Celtic are reportedly looking for a player to replace Emilio Izaguirre as Kieran Tierney’s backup at left back after the Honduran’s displays have left many unconvinced about his long term future at the club.
It looks like Gutman will be that man and he’s expected to sign at Celtic in the near future.
