Celtic are set for transfer talks on Wednesday as they debate whether they will make a move for Everton midfielder James McCarthy.

According to Jim White, as cited on This Is Futbol, Celtic are discussing the possibility of signing Omar Elabdellaoui and, or, McCarthy this month.

White says that Celtic hold an interest in both players and will decide if they are going to attempt to sign them in the next few weeks of the transfer window.

McCarthy is out-of-favour at Everton and found game time hard to come by this season, so could be tempted by a loan move to Scotland until the end of the season.

Speaking on his talkSPORT show, Jim White said:

Celtic are set for a recruitment meeting today with two possible signings on the agenda, Omar Elabdellaoui and Everton’s James McCarthy.

The meeting is to decide who is or isn’t coming to the club. Omar Elabdellaoui is one name but, get this, James McCarthy from Everton is a possible target, on loan from Everton.

The 28-year-old, McCarthy, has only made four Premier League appearances for Everton and started his career in Scotland – with Hamilton.
