Jack Hendry hit back at a Celtic fan who called him f****** s**** on Twitter, before quickly deciding to delete his post from the social media platform.

The defender has fallen out of favour at Celtic Park and hasn’t featured since October, with Brendan Rodgers preferring the likes of Dedryck Boyata and Filip Benkovic at centre-back.

Hendry is one of the players who has been getting some stick in recent weeks and that was enough for actor and Celtic fan Darren Connell, who plays Bobby Muir in the BBC comedy Scots Squad, to head to Twitter himself.

He tweeted:

Some Celtic fans are armchair poison, only in Scotland can you win 2 trebles & it’s still not good enough. The attitude towards Sinclair is disgusting, Jack Hendry looks broken, Burke has played one game & is getting grief already, get a grip and be happy you ungrateful pigs.

One fan, Pat Farrell, replied saying:

That’s because Jack Hendry is broken, he’s f****** s****”.

The defender saw the tweet and decided to respond with a post of his own:

Thanks for kind words Pat, always have nice things to say on this, you’re a top fan and supporter. Think you should look at your own life rather than abusing others. Very sad feel sorry for you. Stay classy as always. Jack.

However, he soon had a change of heart and deleted the post, but not before it was screenshotted, as shown below.
