Rodgers reveals Tierney’s injury struggles
Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Kieran Tierney is struggling to cope with the hip injury currently ruling him out of action.
The left-back has been carrying the issue since before the winter break in Scotland, with fears that he may require surgery.
While that doesn’t look to be the case, Rodgers cannot put a definite timescale on his return.
The hope is that Tierney will be back in training at the beginning of next month, but being on the pitch again still feels a fair way off.
That could mean the 21-year-old misses the Europa League clash with Valencia, which would be a major blow.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Rodgers admits Tierney is finding it tough being on the sidelines, such is his love for the game:
He’s a wonderful talent and a great kid to work with. You know when he is in pain and he really is in pain. He’s a real throwback.
You could see in training he was pushing and giving everything but he wasn’t quite right.
One of his great strengths is his physicality and his power and running ability and when that’s affected it takes away a big part of his game. But we hope he is back soon.
He’s been on such a run for the last few years, bless him. He loves training and he loves playing games.
Football really is his life and for him not to be out there playing is tough. But he’s focused on getting back and into the best condition he can be.
