Last week, The Chronicle reported that the Scottish Premiership champions were interested in Maja, who had made it clear that he wanted to leave the Black Cats.
The 20-year-old striker has been in prolific form for the Black Cats, scoring 14 league goals in just 23 games, at an average of a goal every 115 minutes that he’s been on the field.

Maja’s contract at Sunderland was set to expire in the summer and he had rejected the chance to sign a deal worth seven times more than his existing salary, which made it clear that he was keen to leave the North East club.
Celtic have already signed striker Timothy Weah on loan in this window and with Maja now joining Bordeaux, it remains to be seen if Brendan Rodgers targets any other forward players.
