Celtic have been dealt another injury blow as it has been confirmed that Anthony Ralston will be out for a few weeks after he suffered ligament damage in his ankle during the Scottish Cup win over Airdrie at the weekend.
Ralston sat out of the comfortable win over St Mirren on Wednesday evening and before that game, manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the full-back is set for a spell on the sidelines.
Rodgers told Radio Scotland:
[Anthony] Ralston has been very good for us but he had a bad injury at the weekend which is going to put him out for a number of weeks, which is really disappointing. Laterally in the game, he landed really awkwardly and damaged, quite badly, his ankle ligaments so that is going to put him out for a while but we have the experience of Mikael [Lustig] to come in. Sometimes you can’t do anything about injuries, he twisted his ankle and that’s just unfortunate.

Indeed, Lustig did start at right-back during the win over St Mirren and he was rarely troubled as the champions strolled to a comfortable 4-0 win thanks to a brace from Oliver Burke, a Scott Sinclair penalty and a strike from Timothy Weah.
Celtic now face Hamilton at the weekend and Lustig is expected to keep his place at right-back with Cristian Gamboa seemingly not in the manager’s immediate plans.
