Celtic have been dealt a huge injury blow with the news that defender Filip Benkovic is set for an extended spell on the sidelines, one that could see him miss the rest of the season.
As reported by Alison McConnell of the Evening Times, the defender injured his leg during the weekend’s win over Hamilton and the initial prognosis isn’t a positive one.

The 21-year-old has had scans on the injury and whilst Celtic are still waiting for the results, the expectations are that he’ll be out for a significant period of time and there’s a realistic chance that he could miss the remainder of the campaign.
Dedryck Boyata is currently out with an abductor strain, which means that Celtic will be without their first-choice centre-back pairing for a few games.
Benkovic Is currently on loan from Leicester City and the Foxes could recall him back to England if they wish for him to be treated by their medical staff rather than Celtic’s.
