Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that imminent new signing Maryan Shved will remain on loan at Karpaty Lviv until April.
Shved has reportedly had his medical at Parkhead ahead of his move there, with the transfer expected to be announced on Thursday.
The 21-year-old is another new face to arrive at Celtic in January, following a busy month.
Rather than immediately join up with his new teammates and take part in the title run-in, however, Shved will remain with his current club for the time being.
That’s according to Rodgers, who was speaking after Celtic’s 2-0 win over St Johnstone on Wednesday night:
The medical is done. Maryan Shved was at the game and I spoke to him.
He will go back to Ukraine and finish off his season there with his club.
He will then come back to Scotland around April and get involved with the training before being ready to go in the summer.
Karpaty have just four matches of their Ukrainian Premier League campaign remaining, with relegation a distinct possibility.
The bottom six sides then play each other home and away afterwards, with two teams eventually going down.
Having Shved in their ranks is sure to benefit them, though, as he looks to steer his team clear of danger.
Shved has eight goals and three assists in 17 appearances this season, outlining his influence.
Celtic’s aforementioned 2-0 victory took them six points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
