Celtic kept themselves busy throughout the January transfer window, with a host of players coming in and out of the club.
The Hoops appeared desperate for a right back and it appeared like they were going to miss out on the one position that they sorely needed to address, but the late capture of Jeremy Toljan from Borussia Dortmund rounded off an impressive window for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
With the window now firmly closed, we’ve rated each player coming through the doors for the Hoops.
Oliver Burke - 7
As loan signings go, Oliver Burke has a lot of potential to succeed at Celtic.
The Scottish forward has always been tipped for big things but has never really settled at a team since leaving Nottingham Forest.
Celtic could be the club to give him a footballing home, having already been around the block a few times for a player of his age.
Whether or not he is an upgrade on someone like Scott Sinclair remains to be seen, but he started brightly after joining from West Brom.
Talk of a permanent deal will not go away if he continues in that form.
Vakoun Issouf Bayo - 6
Celtic clearly have a good feeling about Vakoun Issouf Bayo. To splash £2 million on a relatively unknown striker shows how highly the club thinks of him.
Only time will tell if he turns out to be a success, but what he does do is give Rodgers a decision to make in the final third.
Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard formed a great partnership together during the former’s time at the club and Rodgers will be hoping Bayo can do the same.
Timothy Weah - 8
Timothy Weah’s arrival will certainly excite Celtic fans. The last striker to join from PSG turned out alright, didn’t he?
All joking aside, Weah brings in a lot of quality to what was an area where Celtic were light.
The youngster needs game time and Celtic can give him just that. Maintaining good relations with the French champions is hardly a bad thing to do either!
Andrew Gutman - 6
Gutman was one of two Americans to join the club in January and the Hoops did well to see off a wealth of competition for his signature.
Rangers and teams in the MLS were keen to snap up Gutman after he earned rave reviews during his time coming through the ranks in the States.
While he’s unlikely to be in the first-team picture anytime soon, he could be a viable option to replace Emilio Izaguirre in the long run.
Manny Perez - 5
Manny Perez signed a long-term deal with the club after doing enough to impress on trial with the Hoops.
Like the Gutman deal, Perez arrives with very little risk but potentially huge rewards for the club.
He’s a name to keep an eye out for in the years to come and could turn out to be a great piece of business from Celtic.
Jeremy Toljan - 9
Celtic pulled off what can be considered as a huge coup with the loan signing of Jeremy Toljan from Borussia Dortmund.
In a position that the Hoops needed to address, they land themselves a defender with Bundesliga and Champions League experience under his belt.
Toljan was out of favour at Dortmund but given the strength in depth available to the Bundesliga leaders, that says less about the defender’s ability as a player than what some might suggest.
Maryan Shved - 5
Celtic fans have the right to be a little bemused by this signing, especially after Rodgers’ comments when quizzed on Shved’s impending arrival.
After openly admitting that the signing was one happening behind the scenes, it left a lot of questions be asked about the club’s transfer business.
Shved is clearly a talented youngster with a lot of potential but isn’t a player that is going to fill supporters with a lot of excitement right now.
