Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has expressed his surprise at the club’s decision to let Youssouf Mulumbu move back to Kilmarnock on transfer deadline day.
The DR Congo international only signed for Celtic in the summer, having let his contract with Kilmarnock expire at the end of last season.
However, after making just three appearances under Brendan Rodgers, the former West Brom and Norwich City man has departed on loan, moving back to Rugby Park until the end of the season, a move that has surprised Sutton.

Killie are just six points behind Celtic in third place, joint level on points with second place Rangers.
While talking on BT Sport’s Facebook Live stream about Steve Clarke’s side, as reported by HITC, Sutton said:
It’s interesting that Celtic have let them have Mulumbu. Kille are in the race, you have to say that.
However, former Northern Ireland international Stephen Craigan replied to Sutton by questioning why the Hoops signed Mulumbu in the first place. Craigan said:
Doesn’t it make you think, why did he sign in the first place?
Within a matter of months, within a couple of games, you ship him out again.
That would tell me it’s a mistake he’s [Brendan Rodgers has] made. [He] shouldn’t have brought him in, in the first place.
I think it tells me he’s probably writing Kilmarnock off: ‘Go and play for Kilmarnock because it’s not going to affect us.’
